I’ve been trying to find a good beginner’s guide to no avail. The best way to find one is to create it yourself. This section of the site will be dedicated Rise of Kingdoms Lost Crusade and hopefully help others where I went wrong. Like most games, I wanted to experience this game without reading the internet and finding cheats, tips and tricks, etc. In hindsight, I really wasted a lot of time but enjoyed it. I used to play a game called The Hobbit Kingdoms of Middle Earth and found this game to be really similar so I thought I had a good jump start, mistakes were made.
This is a classic time based game of building your kingdom, economy, and army and setting out to smash others. What the game doesn’t offer is in battle fighting, which is a little disappointing but that’s just my personal preference.
I think the first thing to think about is what kind of player are you? What do I mean by that? Are you a Free to Play (F2P) or Pay to Play (P2P). This will make a big difference as I am not going to cover on the Pay to Play because I’m one of those that don’t like to pay the ‘In Game’ costs. They will nickle and dime you so you’ll end up spending way more than buying the game out right. I’m playing the Rise of Kingdoms game on Android too, which probably won’t make a difference as it’s a cross platform mobile game. This game was also known as Rise of Civilizations so don’t be confused with all the content that says that. It’s essentially the same game but some the players and perks have changed.
Assuming Free to Play (F2P), let’s decide how much time you’re willing to dedicate. This is a time based game and since you’re not spending money be prepared to spend lots of time! If you want to dedicate a large amount of time up front in the game to get a head start above other players, I would start with a term people call Jumping. Jumping is essentially a 10 day head start and will give you a jump start.
Once you start playing the game be prepared to drink from a fire hose. There are a lot of things to learn about what everything is and does. I would start with my Beginner’s Guide to Rise of Kingdoms. This will help get you started in the right direction, even if you think you’ll try the Jumping strategy. Once you get past the basics you’ll realize this game is all about killing barbarians. Kill barbs and kill them often! Picking the right Commander was one of the hardest things I had to do. Each players game play will change so knowing ‘the best’ commander will really be tough. It all depends on which cards you get and how to upgrade them.
